Five Easy Achievements: Minecraft Xbox 360 Version

G'day folks!

To celebrate the recent update to the game, I decided to post the achievements for Minecraft for the Xbox 360. Many of these are fairly simple to achieve so grab your controller, its achievement hunting time!

1: MOAR Tools
15 Gamerscore
This achievement can be done within the first five minutes of gameplay. This achievement asks you to make one of each tool; a pickaxe, a hoe, a spade and an axe. This can all be made out of wood and can be done as soon as you have enough wood to make both sticks and a craft table.

2: Monster Hunter
20 Gamerscore
Quite simple and easy. Kill a monster. This can be any monster in the game!

3: Getting An Upgrade
15 Gamerscore
Create a better pickaxe? No problem! After you create a wooden pickaxe, harvest some stone and create a stone pickaxe. And there's your achievement.

4: Taking Inventory
10 Gamerscore
Okay, this is ridiculously easy. Just open up your inventory for the first time and bam! You're done.

5: Getting Wood
10 Gamerscore
Again, insanely easy. Punch a tree and grab some wood!

Seeing as all of these was fairly easy, here's one with a bit more kick.

6: The Lie
40 Gamerscore
This achievement asks you to make cake. What you'll need is wheat, sugar, milk and eggs.
The equipment you'll need is the following:
-Hoe
-Bucket X 3
-Fence
From here, travel your world until you find a chicken. Follow it around until it pops out an egg. Find some sugar cane but keep three. Replant these near your home just in case.
Use a bucket to harvest milk from a cow and the last bucket to be used for water. Harvest seedlings from grass and with using a hoe, create a garden where wheat can grow. From here, its a waiting game.

Hopefully these can get you a boost in your achievements. And remember folks, have fun and game on!

Five Easy Achievements: Spec Ops The Line

G'day folks!

It's been a while since I've done one of these and it's about damn time I did one! Achievement Hunters everywhere, get a pen and some paper, get ready to boost your gamerscore to my lastest game craze, Spec Ops The Line!

1: Deer Hunting
20 Gamerscore
The achievement is simple, kill an Oryx during the campaign. This can be done during the first chapter. As you approach Dubai, you'll end up atop a highway and as you move to your right, a large group of Oryx will be to the side. Simply kill just one and you're done.

2: The Human Factor
20 Gamerscore
Just about halfway into the game, you'll be able to unlock the Sticky Grenade. Simply throw a grenade and get it to stick to an enemy. If you're able to do this, the enemy will either run towards you or back to his allies and ask them to get it off. You can unlock the "Army Of One" (20 Gamerscore) achievement by killing 3 enemies with a grenade by doing this.

3: Damn Close
20 Gamerscore
This achievement is pretty straight forward. Kill an Edged Weapon Expert within 5 meters of you. You can quickly kill him with a shotgun by waiting for him to approach you. You can get this with any weapon but a shotgun is easiest.

4: In Your Face
20 Gamerscore
Enemies are prone to take cover often during gameplay. When one does, simply run up towards him and vault over the edge, to which your AI will kick and stun your foe in a Gears Of War fashion.

5: Blind Luck
20 Gamerscore
Again, very straight forward. While in cover, blind fire over the side and kill five enemies. With this, you'll be 20 gamerscore richer!

And an extra one just to be nice.

6: Situational Awareness
20 Gamerscore
This achievement can be easily unlocked during your first firefight! Simply dump sand on an enemy's head to stun them. This is done in the first firefight but if it does not unlock, there are plenty of other places to do it. Simply look for cracked glass with sand behind it and shoot.

Spec Ops The Line has some fairly easy achievements that can be done simply by playing the game. There are plenty more that only require a little bit of your time. Key decisions in game also unlock the 10-30 gamerscore achievements but they weren't revealed due to spoilers.
Have fun and game on!

Review: Spec Ops - The Line

Howdy folks!
One of the more surprising releases this year, Spec Ops The Line has definitely made it's way into gamer's homes and beyond. Without a doubt, 2K and developers definitely deserve a pat on the back for this one.
First off, what's noticible is the utterly brilliant musical orchestra. Not only allowing both quiet and gorgeous strings of the violin, but also some metal guitar riffs during the heat of battle.
Secondly, what I'd like to point out is the both the graphics and scenery. The game obviously has a nice Bioshock-like destruction but with the crushed buildings, large sand dunes and dead corpses decaying in the sun. Transformation of character is also an excellent noticible feature too. As you move through the campaign, your protagonist Martin Walker (voiced by Nolan North) falls from great heights, is shot at and eventually becomes cut up and even scarred. These feature stay with you as you progress and eventually do indeed get worse as you go.

What becomes dissappointing is the voice acting. The vocal cast is mostly actors brand new to vocal acting and with this, comes some very melodramatic scenes. While some scenes (Such as coming across civillians burnt alive by your hand) calls for some building tention, the acting becomes stale and repetitive as shouting becomes more frequent, even in quieter moments in game.
Controls, while familiar, seem quite "Gears Of War"-ish in both control of character and weapon abilities. What really appeals is the storyline. Loosely based off the 1899 novel Heart of Darkness and more attached to its sister film Apocalypse Now, Spec Ops The Line is a modern retelling of both novel and film and with it, the game develops beautifully. The plotline is shrouded in mystery as is the actions of both your squad and your protagonist, making key decision as you go along. No spoilers but pay attention to choice making and listen to your allies. While many reviewers are harsh for the ending of the game, those who have read the novel or seen the movie could make sense of the ending. Your actions and decisions shape on how you choose the multiple endings, four to be precise. To add a cherry to the top, jokes often appear to lighten the mood of the game, one for example. "Why is there so much violence?! Is it the video games? I bet its the video games..."

Mutiplayer is quite enjoyable. Not only are the maps even and hold different areas for different types of fighting, but gameplay is smooth, players drop in or out without any hassel and customization of character is quite well done. For now, the game only holds the classic multiplayer modes such as Free For All, Team Deathmatch, King Of The Hill and so on. The only issue with Multiplayer is connection; while connectivity is brilliant while in game, it takes a large amount of time for you to connect to either host or system and then wait to be place into either the loosing or uneven team. This can take up to 5-10 minutes at maximum but still is worth it if you're looking for a great match.

Like many other games, Spec Ops The Line has its cons and pros, but for the its low price, the excellence in gameplay and storytelling and right down to the very brutal and dark scenary around you. Spec Ops The Line is definitely worth your time and effort.

Out of 10, I gave Spec Ops The Line an 8/10

Good Points
+ Scenery is jaw dropping.
+ Good storyline, smooth and solid.
+ Multiplayer is addictive.
+ Multiple endings could lead to sequel.

Bad Points
- Some parts become mellodramatic
- Dying of old age to get into a single match.

Spec Ops The Line is out now for the standard price of $72

Review: Mass Effect 3 Extended Cut DLC

G'day there folks!

***WARNING: This review will have significant spoilers about the ending of Mass Effect 3 due to the changes done by this DLC. Newcomers be warned!***

Last week left fans of the Mass Effect universe in a frenzy as the Extended Cut DLC made it's way to the fight and have been raving about it since.
For those who did not keep track, Mass Effect 3 was released back in March, and while the game sold 3.5 million copies within the first few days, fans were furious with both Bioware and EA for the final ten minutes of the gameplay. The endings were nearly exactly the same, only with small changes and different colours, this leading to the protests worldwide to a change of the "Red, Green Or Blue Explosion" or "A, B, or C Choice". On Bioware's website, a shocking 92% demanded for Bioware to create new endings, 5% saying they didn't care and 3% liking the original endings.
Cupcakes, petitions, Youtube Videos, gamers banded together asking gamers with the quote "We will hold the line!", demanding a different ending. (Note: The quote was from Captain Kirrahe from the first Mass Effect game). This eventually lead the public to blame EA and Casey Hudson, directive creator or all Mass Effect games, for this horrible ending, many of the writers and developers pointing fingers at the two. From here, EA was awarded the "Worst Company In America" award, also known as The Poop Award. From here, all of EA's DLC for Mass Effect 3 have been free and the Extended Cut DLC was no exception.
Now bad on topic.
At the beginning of reclaiming Earth, smaller scenes are noticable from the beginning of the battle. Depending on who you choose, this will be affected by the battles. For example; If you recruited many fighter pilots, they will charge in at your go to attack not only the Reaper's smaller ships, but also attacking the Reapers head on, even managing to break off one of their parts with assistance from a Turian Vessel.
From here we fight through countless Brutes and Marauders alike until the final flight towards the Citadel's transport beam. From here, the main key plot holes begin to be filled. Extra scenary and dialogue choices were included. For example, the game takes into account who you talk to the most in the game or if you have had a romance with a particular squadmate. No matter the case, Shepard tells them to leave and get out and he continues the run to the beam only to be wiped out. If you romanced Liara, she will tell you quote "I am yours", while if you take Javik he claim quote "This is still my fight!". With this, we are able to see the Normandy escape and this covers to how all squadmates end up on the forest planet.
Once inside, a few extra scenes of the carnage inside are shown but nothing truly changes until you meet up with the God Child. Another few dialogue choices answer many of the questions raised regarding this child. (MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD)

We are to discover that the Child is not a God or even an advanced lifeform but nothing more than an AI. Created eons ago by an unknown race, he tells the story of both his creation and purpose. This race (Which goes without a name entirely), he suggests, created the Citadel, himself and the Mass Relays. The purpose was to eradicate chaos in the galaxy (This leads to the assumption that they created synthetics and had lost control). In order to maintain the peace, the Child kills this race and uses them to create the "One, true Reaper" in their form. (My guess is that since Harbinger is the leader of the Reapers, that his images is this race and thus naturally controls them, which would make sense since he controlled the Collectors) He goes on to say that "I give them purpose and in return, so do they". During this, he explains all three choices in much greater detail. Destroy, Control and Synthesis all are laid out in great detail. Destroy will kill off all synthetics, including the Geth, EDI and even technology, claiming "...But your children will make synthetics and the chaos will come back."
Control is self explanitory, Shepard will die to control the Reapers "You will die but your thoughts and even your memoris will continue". But Synthesis is the kicker; the Child proclaims that quote "Organics seek perfection through technology. Synthetics seek perfection through understanding." and that both will achieve perfection by having each other's perfection.
But wait, there's more! There is a "secret" ending for the taking. While not...entirely secret, it has been dubbed the "Refusal" ending. You can achieve this by either rejecting any of the other choices or by shooting at the Child, in which he will turn and speak like a Reaper. "So be it. The cycle continues." and this leads to the extinction of your cycle. There's no huge battles, no rally cry from the Krogan or Rachni swarming into the battlefield. A small scene showing a future race finding one of Liara's black boxes, having battle plans to the Reapers, the Crucible and so on. She starts with "If you are hearing this, then there still is hope." With a child and their mother, they talk about achieving peace within the galaxy if it wasn't for the Archive or, as in the original, "The Shepard"
When you have made your choice, the last plot hole is filled. A disgruntled Joker hears the order to retreat back through the relay as the Crucible begins to fire. All scenes depend on your choices from here on out. We see a Husk fighting a human, Asari fighting Reapers and so on. During the end, we see the aftermath of your choices, such as the Krogan rebuilding their world and having baby Krogan, Geth and Quarians living peacefully in a tower-filled Rannoch and the rebuilding of both the Citadel and the relay.
Each ending has a different voice over; Shepard for Control, EDI for Synthesis and Hackett for Destroy. As the Normandy crashes we also see a destroyed inner pit as either your favourite or lover places your name amongst the dead. From here, we see various still screens such as the rebuilding of earth.

Overall, gamers are now happy with the ending and I highly encourage you to give it a go. With this also now in our hands, fans are awaiting the now confirmed next DLC "Leviathan" and hopefully future Multiplayer DLC which will be announced July 12th.
This review will have no score as this DLC was entirely made due to fan request. My original rating of the game still stands.
Thanks for reading!
