Review: Red Dead Redemption

Howdy ma'am.

I apologise for the lateness (Its the 1st of Feb here) and here it is. Game Of The Year for 2010, the year known as the Gaming Year, Red Dead Redemption.

What you can immediately notice is the lore of the game itself. Based in 1911, the game quotes the mood of the game perfectly; "The Old West is dying"
And indeed it is. Despite the lack of technology  in this era, its only just starting to show its head in this game, which is perfectly shown as you reach Blackwater. Motorcars and a high powered pistol, some of the technology that helped the war effort only three years away.
The cast of the game, while nearly all completely unknown to the gaming community, delivered a perfect voice which instantly became a classic, many gamers making the notion: "Our parents had Clive Anderson and John Wayne. We have John Marston"
The controls, while slightly confusing to begin with, are easy after a few moments. Riding a horse did stump me at first, but after being bucked five times, I learnt how to ride with ease.
Graphics of the game were fairly good for today's standards and the graphics especially with the eyes were sublime.

This brings me to the small faults of the game.

Some of the voice acting, even done by John Marston, was slightly exaggerated and unneeded, especially in the final mission of John (I won't reveal the name or the nature, in case of spoilers)
Screaming at a person within arm's reach didn't seem too logical.
This brings me to the Multiplayer. While it is honestly surprising graphics and near lag free connection, there are a few faults. Many gamers are able to have the ability to hack the online gaming and kill seemingly without much effort. Infinite health, infinite ammo and the ability to sunk in the ground? Not really a fair enough try when they move up hill with a sniper rifle.

Despite its small faults, the game itself is a brilliant collection and worthy to be placed on any gamer's shelf. If you are looking for a western type game with great controls and a good balance, then the search is over.

Out of 10, I gave Red Dead Redemption a 9/10
