Review: Dorritos Crash Course

Hey there folks!

Just a short review on a game that has really got me hooked at the moment, and which I'm slowly playing over and over and over: Dorritos Crash Course.

This game, while very short to download, is just purely a great game at that. Simple, easy and more fun to shake a stick at. The campaign is quite short, but challenging nonetheless. Playing five increasingly hard rounds in two countries and one continent (USA, Europe and Japan) each level starts off relatively easy, and slowly gets more challenging, USA being the easiest and Japan being the hardest.

The game, while having simple graphics, is quite brilliant. The crowds have human shape, but look like ragdolls. But seeing as the Avatars also look as such, they blend in naturally. The musical score, while composed of two songs and a few jingles, are quite original and the sound effects are quite amusing. For example, when you die 5 times on a specific checkpoint, you are given the option to continue through your mishap or skip ahead. Continuing forward leaves you with nothing but your pride, while skipping forward blanks out your time to nothing and you can hear a chicken clucking.

The games multiplayer is quite extraordinary. In a matter of seconds, a game can be found, you enter and you're are trying to beat this person as fast as you can down the track. While waiting for them at the end and hearing the cheering get loud and hurt your ears can be a bit of a nuisance, the game is utterly fantastic.

Oh, and did I mention this game is FREE TO DOWNLOAD?

This game shall never see a day were I won't be willing to play it. Despite repeating the level over and over again, the outcome is amusing and challenging each and ever time.
Out of 10, I gave Dorritos Crash Course a 9/10

Review: Fable 2

Hey there!

Today, I'm here to talk and review one of my personal favourite games, a game that I spent countless hours playing over and over for the simple reason of its great factors. A following to the great series created by Peter Molyneux, ladies and gents, Fable 2.

Firstly, the one thing you should notice in this game is the massive up-haul of graphics. Due to the massive success of the previous game, this gave Peter Molyneux a great wealth of gaming opportunities. With this, more developers and more experienced people in this field were able to help produce this game. Another great mention towards this game is the newly erected storyline. Set 500 years after the previous game, you follow the descendant of the last game's protagonist, a lonely young man or woman living on the street with your sister Rose until the visit of Murgo the Trader. After a specific encounter with both Theresa (The sister to the original protagonist 500 years previous) and the lord of Bowerstone, Lucien Fairfax, the journey of the hero begins.

Lastly a brilliant mention to this game is the up-haul of the voice acting. Steven Fry as the notorious pirate Reaver is a brilliant addition to the game, as well as Zoe Wanamaker (As Theresa) Ron Glass (Garth) and Julia Sawalha (Hammer).
Their brilliant work, along with Oliver Cotton as Lucien, was a fantastic and utterly awesome to play with. The emotional depth of the game is second to none of its time.

But here comes the bad points.
Unfortunately, some people have experienced massive amounts of lag or glitches. Spouse's disappear in Farifax Castle, game loading points tend to freeze if the disk is slightly scratched and so on and so forth.

However, with the money glitch, this game can turn out to be a breese. This game is a must buy for lovers of the series or fans of a fantasy world that is huge and very eloping to even the hardcore gamers.

Out of 10, I gave Fable II a 8.5/10

Review: Trailers

Howdy folks.

To kickstart my small reviews, I've chosen two game trailers that I cannot simply wait for. The first is a more recent game trailer but a game that gave the technology of digital games a reality: Mass Effect 3.

As you may know, Mass Effect was a brilliant game, taking 4 years to develop. Its storyline based in 2183, and the human race has found a way out of the Sol Galaxy and into the Milky Way, discovering alien races. It follows the story of Commander Shepard, to which you can create your own personality or stick with the premade one and follow his journey.

Now, the Mass Effect 3 teaser trailer begins as follows: We hear a man's voice being with the sentence "Two million dead in the first day. Seven million by the first week"
We can see the he's leaning against a wall of sorts, injured. He injects himself in what we can either predict to be some sort of medication or maybe some drugs to help him focus. He proceeds to lean out of the broken screen behind him, watch a woman flee as a figure chases her. He kills this woman with one shot. We can assume that this may be either Husks (Dead people brought back to life with Reaper Techknowlogy) or maybe even a new foe.
The man reloads and leans back. The camera pans out of the room to reveal its the Big Ben Clock Tower. Surrounding London are huge, Octopus like ships, plainly Reapers. The man says "One things for certain: If Shepard doesn't bring help soon, there won't be an Earth left to save"
With these words, we can see a man, standing at a window, looking down on the Earth, as small little flames and explosions can be seen. The man turns and walks to the camera, on his armour we can see the words "N7" the clear mark of Shepards' armour.

This game, this series, I absolutely love and  cannot wait for more trailers nor the game either!

The second trailer is for a game that I can't simply wait for. I love this game series to death, and I wish they would release more trailers...ladies and gents, Gears of War 3!
All I shall say about this game is to watch this trailer, watch the beauty of it, and enjoy the gaming.
This....is just pure awesome

Review: Red Dead Redemption

Howdy ma'am.

I apologise for the lateness (Its the 1st of Feb here) and here it is. Game Of The Year for 2010, the year known as the Gaming Year, Red Dead Redemption.

What you can immediately notice is the lore of the game itself. Based in 1911, the game quotes the mood of the game perfectly; "The Old West is dying"
And indeed it is. Despite the lack of technology  in this era, its only just starting to show its head in this game, which is perfectly shown as you reach Blackwater. Motorcars and a high powered pistol, some of the technology that helped the war effort only three years away.
The cast of the game, while nearly all completely unknown to the gaming community, delivered a perfect voice which instantly became a classic, many gamers making the notion: "Our parents had Clive Anderson and John Wayne. We have John Marston"
The controls, while slightly confusing to begin with, are easy after a few moments. Riding a horse did stump me at first, but after being bucked five times, I learnt how to ride with ease.
Graphics of the game were fairly good for today's standards and the graphics especially with the eyes were sublime.

This brings me to the small faults of the game.

Some of the voice acting, even done by John Marston, was slightly exaggerated and unneeded, especially in the final mission of John (I won't reveal the name or the nature, in case of spoilers)
Screaming at a person within arm's reach didn't seem too logical.
This brings me to the Multiplayer. While it is honestly surprising graphics and near lag free connection, there are a few faults. Many gamers are able to have the ability to hack the online gaming and kill seemingly without much effort. Infinite health, infinite ammo and the ability to sunk in the ground? Not really a fair enough try when they move up hill with a sniper rifle.

Despite its small faults, the game itself is a brilliant collection and worthy to be placed on any gamer's shelf. If you are looking for a western type game with great controls and a good balance, then the search is over.

Out of 10, I gave Red Dead Redemption a 9/10
