Review: Gears Of War

Hey folks

To start off this brand new Angenda, I wanted to start with one of the most difficult yet addictive games of the early beginnings of the Xbox 360; Gears of War

Released in November of 2006, this game was released to thepublic with open arms; the previews and gameplay released to the public it the gaming community all abuzz to play this TPS in a world taken over by beastly monsters called The Locust.
Fighting a war against a genicidal race, claiming that humanity to be a plague against the world they share, and with their life threatened against this mostly unknown race, the people of Cera take arms to fight this force of large magnitude.
One of the first observations I made while playing this game was the ease of the controls. Even with the player's guide through the campaign, playing the game comes as easy as breathing but despite the second games release two years after the first, the protagonist Marcus Fenix places the rule quite easily. "Take cover or die"
Second to mention would be the fantastic storyline, world and acting by the cast and the creators. John DiMaggio as Marcus Fenix and Carlos Ferro as Dom Santiago make a brilliant team straight from the getgo from releasing Marcus from Prison right up to the battle against RAM.

The only small dissapointment are the following.

The multiplayer of the game, while interesting, can be extremely buggish and lag; the same problem as the second game had. The gameplay as well, was brilliant, yet tended to freeze at some point or the graphics themselves would be slightly squarish in appearence and the characters would end up as slightly inhuman blobs.

Gears of War was an intriguing game and was made beautifully by the team at Epic, the creators of Digital techknowlogy. With the help of Microsoft, this game flourished and developed into the series that we now love and cannot simply for the final epologue to be released later this year.
Cliff Blezinski, thank you for this terrific game.

Out of 10, I gave Gears of War a 8/10

New Agenda's

Hey guys and girls.

As I've previously stated n my last few posts, my list of games becomes ever more shorter, and by around April, I'm probably going to run out. I was hoping to get and review Gears of War 3 by April, but unfortunately not the case....thanks Epic....ugh.
Ah well, that's not the point of this post.

I'm here to tell you all that in the near future, I am going to review game trailers and post a link to where you may watch them.
Keep an eye out for the first three I'll do are most likely the first I'll be doing are the following:
Gears of War 3: Ashes To Ashes trailer
Mass Effect 3: Earth Trailer
Prototype 2: Revenge Trailer

So, fun fun fun!

Thanks so much for reading all of these, the views are great.
Have a good one

Review: Modern Warefare 2

Hey there folks!

Today, I'm reviewing one of the games that has changed the face of the gaming community, and thus, changed the way a game is made and produced. (And this review is going to be fun since my M key is sticking) ladies and gentlemen, Modern Warfare 2.

Firstly, I must mention the fact of the utterly brilliant vocal acting. As we are all aware of, sequels to great games tend to lack largely in some area, but thankfully, the sequel fixed the very small problems of the previous game and gave it a large push in the right direction. The vocal acting of the entire cast was completely committed and made the world they had created completely understandable, placing you inside those moments. One great mention would be Keith David; while he has done some action movies and other video games (The two largest being the Mass Effect games and Halo 2 and 3 as the voice of the Arbitor) this game demanded a lot of vocal shouts and orders from the man, who in previous games rarely shouted. David did brilliant work during this game as the gruff Sergeant Foley.

But there is only one negative to mention.
Modern Warfare 2 brought the reality of our soldiers overseas, yet there have been a few grumblings since the release that I myself have only just noticed. For those who love the realism and reliability to modern games, after hearing some complaints that when firing a weapon, there is no recoil, giving the faster connection players the kill. Also with the killstreak awards, people stopped playing the game itself for how "the rich get richer" by the fact that higher up killstreaks add onto your kills, giving you the ability to activate the Nuke Killstreak.

This game changed the face of our industry, being named Game Of The Decade by such company's as IGN, OXM and more. In the end, it comes down to your preferences, but for me, this game was a jaw dropper for the gameplay and multiplayer, wasting much of my time that I had to waste.

Out of 10, I gave Modern Warfare II an 8.5/10

Review: Call of Duty World At War

Howdy folks! Firstly I wish to thank you all for viewing my blog. 200 views. Thank you so much.

I'm here today to discuss, probably the most disappointing games in recent history, yet also at the same time, had the ability to attract a certain genre to the series with a little feature known as NAZI ZOMBIES
Ladies and gentlemen, World at War.

Now, by this time, it was a foolish move by Activision and Treyarch to produce yet another WW2 game, seeing as the era had been done to death: Medal of Honor Airborne, History Channel Presents, previous COD titles and so on. Yet this game, while the multiplayer was a little bit disappointing, was well thought out for its campaign and the soon-to-be-beloved, Nazi Zombie mode, which, in this gamer's opinion, pretty much saved Treyarch from going belly up.

With the beginning of the campaign starting out (...once again...) as a faceless man, you begin your journey from being captured on Matol Island to Islands that surround Japan during 1942.
However, you also get to play as a young Russian soldier named Dimitri, aiding a battled hardened Reznov, through the destroyed streets of Stalingrad, through the countryside of Germany and right into the middle of Berlin. (Side note: While the Russians were indeed able to get into Berlin, they were not the first Allied country to do so. The French was)
World At War's campaign was supposed to be a challenge to the now ever popular Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare, but unfortunately, despite the brilliant acting of Gary Oldman, failed.
The multiplayer, despite several attempts to be fixed with both updates and DLC maps, the game still was able to be hacked, filled with bugs and the levels created were easily able for "Campers" to kill freely, causing many disgruntled players quit and not play the game.

While this both demonstrates the games pro's and con's, its onto the epic Nazi Zombies.

With 3 simple maps to being with (As Black Ops has now), the majority of gamers between Multiplayer and Zombies changed dramatically with a 3-1 ratio.
Despite some protest by the German community, this request to have the title removed was denied due to International War Law (All past war act/crimes cannot be denied existance by involving partie(s) under threats of imprisonment - Patriot Act A-NZ-USA-CN-UK)
The feature involved the players having to kill various Zombies to earn a currency, to buy weaponry, ammunition and release door ways and blockades in the hopes to reach a safety point for a certain amount of time. Either that or the gamers may choose to pick off an enclosed area and camp, as the waves of Zombies was infinite.

This game was not fairly remembered for its terrific acting or its decent Multiplayer, but it will certainly be remembered for how it brought the world an easy and effective way to destroy and rip limb from limb, Zombies of all moans and screams.
Out of 10, I gave Call Of Duty World At War an 7/10

Review: Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare

Hey folks, hope you enjoyed the New Year celebrations!

For you, its back to work or back to sleep, however for me, its neither so here I am. This game sparked the gaming community into frenzy with the right controls and the ever lust to kill in more modern terms. Infantry Ward and Activision struck gold with Call of Duty 4.

When this game was released, I shall admit, I was very skeptical. I am a History Student of several years (before my recent departure of my education) and I found it most entertaining to fight in significant battles of the past years (Market Garden, Siegue of Stalingrad, Battle of The Buldge ect) and the weaponry of said time. As I played through the campaign I became more involved with the world that we live in now and the battle our soldiers are still fighting to this very second, possibly right now. What I immediately noticed was the mostly unknown cast of the characters and how well they were at this task. Captain Price was particularly my favourite, along with Gaz and his constant puns.

Another mention was the surprising soundtrack. The music was so suiting to the moments of the fights, especially the scene of the battle to save the tank War Pig. This moment, along with the voice work of both the seriousness  and calmness of defeating their enemy, this was a terrific way to end the level. As any person may have, I was trapped within the storyline and the ending was a complete shocker. Right at the end of the final mission was a terrific way to end the game -
:WARNING SPOILERS AHEAD:

-the way of Captain Price being brought back, but unresponsive, unknown in his face if he would live or die, both your other companions killed before you and ending in white while a woman brings a news report was fantastic. This is a brilliant way to show how little we know of what is happening to our soldiers overseas. How much had happened during the game and yet how little is announced to us, the public. This is also a sign for censorship by our government(s).
I also found the opening credits of the game so compelling. Very few games show such detail during a FPS, especially seeing as there is no shooting on your account..

However this brings me to the bad points.

While this was the first game I played online on Xbox Live, I found it extremely laggish. Even over time, I noticed that the game usually cut me off, despite the area distance. I figured out this to be my modem, but I was wrong. It was a bug.
But a small one.

This game is a must buy. Modern Warfare was a beautiful game with developing storyline and a fantastic server to play with.
Out of 10, I gave Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare an 9/10
