Review: Star Wars Kinect

G'day folks!

Told to be pushing the uses of the Kinect ever closer to their limit, Kinect Star Wars ruffled the feathers of both gamers, fans and those who stood against the Kinect. The Star Wars series has had many games over the years, even going as far back as the early 80's. And while there has been a few of these titles released on the Wii, there had never been something like this.

Kinect Star Wars offered one promise when it opened its information at E3 2011; to truly make its players feel as though they were a part of the world of the series and to truly make every childhood dream become a reality - for most at least -  to become a Jedi. And with the Kinect's help, you can truly loose yourself in the gameplay.

Straight from the get-go (from the main Campaign), you are being trained in the arts of both the Force and the use of a Lightsaber. While slightly tricky at the start, once mastered, these movements will put you straight into the action. There is much satisfaction to be had when Force Gripping an enemy and hurling them across the battlefield or using your lightsaber to reflect bolts back at firing enemies.
The game also allows Boss Battles to be replayed, specific points in the Campaign and so on. Lastly there is also one part in the game that allows you to try out...different abilities with the Force. I'll let you folks figure out that one.

To keep this short, gameplay is definitely definitive this time around, but there are a few bugs to solve. The Kinect has had a few bugs since launch and Microsoft has seen to fix these with each new game. While many saw the Kinect to be the death of the Star Wars franchise, this gamer sees it as the right stepping stone towards a future where games can bring you into its world.

Out of 10, I gave Kinect Star Wars an 7.5/10

Good Points
+ Entirely different experience.
+ Tips and Intro very helpful
+ A new side to the before/aftermath of the series

Bad Points
- Graphics still need a little work
- Customization is limited to small selection
- Save points infrequent...
- Kinect doesn't pick up on everything....

Kinect Star Wars is out now for the standard price of $48

Written Update!

G'day there guys and gals!

The current time while I'm writing these words is 2:42am.
I was going to make a small video out of this, but seeing as I have huge black bags underneath my eyes and I look like a raccoon (Despite never seeing one face to face in my life before) I decided to do this.

Firstly; I'll be posting a new episode of FGT possibly tomorrow or at least Thursday. Also, Ask Fatman will be coming out soon, I swear!
Secondly, despite talking about it, a few people are still a bit confused about my competition. So I'll be creating a short tomorrow explaining it all, including some other crap.

Well, its time for me to get to bed. Its look reaaaaal intriguing....oh pillow.
Thanks for reading, and enjoy the new videos!
And as always, have fun and game on!

Five Easy Achievements: Mass Effect 3

G'day there folks!

As the controversy for the game and its developers builds, hundreds of gamers are flocking to stores around the world to finally finish the long battle between Shepard and the Reapers. In Mass Effect 3, you can kill each and every Reaper to victory and earn some nifty achievements along the way!

1: Shopaholic
10 Gamerscore
Quite early on in the game, you'll be able to travel to the Citadel to warn the Council and the rest of the galaxy about the Reapers' attack on Earth. Head to a shop (Any old shop will do) and purchase anything and the achievement will pop.

2: A Personal Touch
10 Gamerscore
Straight from the get-go, you are able to pick up weapon modifications. Simply find one in game or buy them from the Citadel, head to a bench and upgrade the weapon of choice!

3: Recruit
10 Gamerscore
This achievement is pretty straight forward. Kill 250 enemies during Campaign or Multiplayer and await the pop of it unlocking.

4: Lost and Found
25 Gamerscore
When exploring galaxies under Reaper Control, you can find mini quest items, fuel and credits. Simply find any of these on 10 different planets and the achievement unlocks.

5: Master and Commander
50 Gamerscore
This achievement, while seemingly hard, is quite easy and is able to unlock in the first run through. It asks you to "Deliver most of the Galaxy at War assets to the final conflict". This is achievement mostly through the Campaign but what really gets this achievement is the mini quests. When in the Citadel, listen to all the small conversations around you. One for example, is an Asari needing Biotic Implants for her soldiers, an Implant human scientists were working on would be perfect. When saving the Biotic Academy, remember to search places and it can be found. By doing these, you will unlock small, but powerful, additions to your Galaxy at War chart and help you kick the Reapers back into dark space!

There are many easy achievements in Mass Effect 3, such as Untouchable, Veteran, Defender and so on, but these will come the more you play the game. Also, for fans of the series the standard "Long Service Medal" can be unlocked after your first playthrough, second for those who play through twice.

Now that you have the tools to take down the Reapers, get out there soldier!
Thanks for reading!

Review: Naruto Shippuden Generations

G'day there guys and gals!

Without a doubt, Naruto Shippuden Generations is bound to make the fans happy but where it lacks, the game is able to make up for most of it.
For a game that has been in development for nearly 2 and a half years, it makes it a shame to see what little effort has been put into the Campaign. While the game does show some excellent cutscenes never before seen (and some videos involving Killer Bee rapping fool ya fool!) this makes each Campaign story a little more bearable. Featuring 10 different stories (Such as Zabuza and Haku, Minato, Gaara ect) each story has a set of about 4-7 fights in each, all starting with an easy fight to more challenging and difficult setting areas and abilities.
While it was quite intriguing to see these extra fighting scenes (such as Naruto V Sasuke at the Final Valley during the 4th Ninja War) these clips were kept to about two minutes or slightly more.
What is most dissapointing is the loss of free roam and side missions. In the previous game, free roam (while limited) was still active; allowing players to travel, journey, puzzle solve and simply work their way towards a mission or an active quest. In this however, you see a simple photo taken directly from the anime with text and voiceover and press A to continue on. These little moments can last from up to 10 seconds to a few minutes, both being slightly irritating and pointless.

Multiplayer, while still the same greatness, is nothing short of some lack too. While gamers can choose to have tournements versing COMP players, online matches tend to have more issues. This time around, players can choose how to connect; Region, Language and Connectivity is now an option to create a safer and easier way to play against friends. However, Region limits you down to only your country and not Plate Boarder (Example: The AUS Plate includes Australia, New Zealand and parts of Indonesia) and even then, it tends to link directly to whatever comes first, which can be a weak or strong link.
And joining a random online match spells horror for the non-host.
Lastly, gamers now can shop for in game items in seperate parts of the main menu, including what your substitution log says as you use it, what weapon kit you'd prefer to use and view all the clips you have unlocked in Campaign, as well as Ninja Info Cards (Which can help out with special abilities granted during online play), titles and so on.

To put it simply, Naruto Shippuden Generations is definitely a worthy game for fans of either the show, manga or simply fighting games. For newcomers, head back to the originals. With such amount of work to graphics, gameplay, its up to you to decide whether the losses weigh up against the fruit.

Out of 10, I gave Naruto Shippuden Generations an 6.5/10

Good Points
+Fantastic new scenes
+Upgraded fighting system
+Waaaaay more characters

Bad Points
-....its pretty much the same content
-Short Campaign
-Multiplayer bug issues
-Text scenes mostly unneccessary

Naruto Shippuden Generations is out now for the standard price of $68

Review: Gears 3 Forces of Nature DLC

G'day there everyone!

The 4th and final installment (for now) for Gears of War 3, Forces of Nature DLC brings 5 new maps to the multiplayer side of the game, bringing a fresh breath of air to the game, as well as bringing back the oldies that we all know and love.

This DLC is the final one involving those who bought the Season Pass but Epic has announced that there might be more for the future. Forces of Nature focuses directly on that; multiplayer maps with different weather conditions. The maps include three new maps called Aftermath (Floods), Artillery (Tornado) and Cove (Fog), and bring back two golden oldies Jacinto (Rainstorm and immulsion) and Raven Down (Snowstorm).
Not only this, but the DLC includes four new characters, new weapon skins and more.

The only issue so far is the spawning points; while the gameplay is still as fantastic as its always been, with this DLC, players can respawn right next to an enemy. While there is the Spawn Protection time limit for those camping at spawn points, if a player isn't quick enough, its a Gnasher or Sawed Off to the back of the head.

Otherwise, fans of the series are quite satisfied with the new addition to the game, while some continue to argue the price and the worth of it all.
If you like a nostalgic trip down memory lane of gaming and just some overall fun with Gears, than this DLC could be for you.

Out of 10, I gave the Forces of Nature DLC an 8.5/10

Good Points
+New Maps have change of pace from tradtional mappacks.
+Bring back best of the oldies.

Bad Points
+Dislodging Spawn points

The Forces of Nature DLC is out now for 800 Microsoft Points or free with the Season Pass
