Review: Star Wars Kinect

G'day folks!

Told to be pushing the uses of the Kinect ever closer to their limit, Kinect Star Wars ruffled the feathers of both gamers, fans and those who stood against the Kinect. The Star Wars series has had many games over the years, even going as far back as the early 80's. And while there has been a few of these titles released on the Wii, there had never been something like this.

Kinect Star Wars offered one promise when it opened its information at E3 2011; to truly make its players feel as though they were a part of the world of the series and to truly make every childhood dream become a reality - for most at least -  to become a Jedi. And with the Kinect's help, you can truly loose yourself in the gameplay.

Straight from the get-go (from the main Campaign), you are being trained in the arts of both the Force and the use of a Lightsaber. While slightly tricky at the start, once mastered, these movements will put you straight into the action. There is much satisfaction to be had when Force Gripping an enemy and hurling them across the battlefield or using your lightsaber to reflect bolts back at firing enemies.
The game also allows Boss Battles to be replayed, specific points in the Campaign and so on. Lastly there is also one part in the game that allows you to try out...different abilities with the Force. I'll let you folks figure out that one.

To keep this short, gameplay is definitely definitive this time around, but there are a few bugs to solve. The Kinect has had a few bugs since launch and Microsoft has seen to fix these with each new game. While many saw the Kinect to be the death of the Star Wars franchise, this gamer sees it as the right stepping stone towards a future where games can bring you into its world.

Out of 10, I gave Kinect Star Wars an 7.5/10

Good Points
+ Entirely different experience.
+ Tips and Intro very helpful
+ A new side to the before/aftermath of the series

Bad Points
- Graphics still need a little work
- Customization is limited to small selection
- Save points infrequent...
- Kinect doesn't pick up on everything....

Kinect Star Wars is out now for the standard price of $48
