Five Easy Achievements: The Force Unleashed 2

G'day guys and gals!

To kill the time between the release of Mass Effect 3's Demo, a lot more videos will be released as soon as possible. But for now, a look back on my first game I reviewed on this site here and how to get easy achievements from it. The Force Unleashed 2!

1: Kamfetti
10 Gamerscore
An easy achievement you can get quite early on; simply Force throw 5 enemies into the fans on Kamino. This can be done just after your escape and your first use of Force grip. There will be a short cutscene where three or so Stormtroopers run towards you, but are sucked into a fan nearby. You have to take this path in order to reach your goal (You won't get hurt by these fans unless you walk directly into them) and there shall be some guards waiting to ambush you. A tap of the B button will send them flying into the fans behind them. Repeat with the other guards until the achievement pops!

2: Break The Bank
10 Gamerscore
During the second mission, you'll find yourself in a Casino like place, with many slot machines around you. Simply unsheath your lightsabre and go to town on them until money spits out and they turn brown. Do this to 10 of them and there's your achievement.
There's also a secret character you can unlock by doing this. Right before heading towards your goal, you'll hear a very non-Star Wars-like music (Maybe some kind of Monkey music?) and Jabba The Hut looking very elegant upon a hologram with three slot machines in front of him. Stab them three, a Holocron will appear, pick it up and see your prize...

3: Stay On Target
10 Gamerscore
This can be a very tricky little achievement for such a low payout but it is definitely worth it. After your battle with a Gorog, you'll be put in a free fall, where said monstrocity will hurl things towards you during mid-fall. Avoid everything he throws at you and make it to him once. Only once and the achievement is yours.

4: To The Face!
20 Gamerscore
During your missions, you will come across many enemies, this one in particular is the AT-MP. You can reflect his rockets back and him and cause an explosive death. Do this 20 times and the achievement can be yours!

5: Poor Bob ***SECRET ACHIEVEMENT***
10 Gamerscore
Its odd how little of people with this game have this achievement. I guess they're not as cruel!
Find a Stormtrooper, specifically the normal one. Force Grip the little bugger, Impale him with your lightsabre, zap him with a bit of lighting and throw him into an object. Any object will do; exploding barrels, a normal barrel, another enemy, just as long as its an object and not a wall.

And just to be nice....
6: Up, Up And Away!
20 Gamerscore
Jumptroopers are extremely annoying during a fight, especially with distance. Zap 20 of them with lighting and there's your achievement. Their screams of horror as they zoom around the place and slam to their deaths is simply the cherry on top.

Hopefully this can give you that little bit you need to it over another 1000 Gamerscore. Many game companies don't encourage boosting, nor do I. But there's nothing wrong with sharing secrets eh?
Thanks for reading and as always, have fun and game on!

Review: Rainbow Six Vegas 2

G'day once again folks!

With the realistic gunfire gameplay in shooters becoming more and more popular, a return for the Rainbow Six series was definitely on the cards. With the return of Rainbox Six Vegas 2, it was time for a return to the TC gameplay many fans have come to love or hate.

While still a relitively new game, Vegas 2 doesn't hold any stand out graphics, most being quite blockish and blurred. Sound for both the musical score and voice acting is of decent quality; the strings of a 30 piece orchastra is quite a lovely sound, bringing back many of the original games' pieces, remade and with extra tidbits. The voice acting was a classic TC styling, while straight to the point, lacking emotion and vocal pitch.
What really holds this game together is the gameplay; while very simular to the Ghost Recon style of gameplay, Vegas 2 holds its story not only in Sin City. Things such as gadgets and even a very decent level of customisation is quite appealing to the audience. To even create your own character for both Campaign and Multiplayer is quite an interesting feat, especially unseen in a shooter.

Sadly, this brings me to the negative side.
While many gamers are loving the realistic side of gameplay in shooters, Vegas 2 has the slightly annoying advantage. The golden rule in many shooters is "Take Cover", while in this particular case its "Watch every corner." Enemies will be hiding behind overturned tables and drink machines, waiting to shoot or bash you to death. This becomes extremely annoying, especially when you are unable to detect them in open hallways and rooms.
Multiplayer, while fun, has a few issues that need addressing. AI's can tend to lag out local matches, especially when players drop out of the match. This is a simple fix, but since TC games do not allow gamers to drop in open matches, an onslaught from the AI's is sure to happen.

Vegas had its charms and its fun gameplay and stylings, and while a second in the series is sure to be decent, it is known from movies, books to games, the second of anything is sure to be unsatisfactory.

Out of 10, I gave Rainbow Six Vegas 2 an 5.5/10

Good points: Continued storyline
                    Customization is excellent!

Bad points:   Multiplayer needs Mortein....(Kill the bugs?)
                    Frustration at ridiculous shootouts.
AI's tend to be overpowered early on.
                    AI allies offer little/no help

Review: Dragonball Z Tenkaichi

G'day guys and gals!

There have been maybe fighter games throughout all stylings of games; from Arcade style to motion capture, many are simplistic and each with their unique flavour.
But most, if not all, pale in comparison to this particular game, with as much diversity as grand design.

To those who are new to the Dragonball series (Just in case), it follows a man named Goku, raised on Earth but his true origins being a Sayan from the planet Vegeta. What sets Tenkaichi apart from the previous games its content: following Goku from his childhood directly to the very last episode in the GT series.
Not only that, but the graphic style is directly taken from the Kai series remade and fully 3D versions. Music and audio was also amped up to great levels, bringing back much nostalgia. An added bonus in Tenkaichi is the small amount of free roam; when in control of a character in the Story Mode, at certain points, you are able to fly directly to your mission, a side fight or even to collect the 7 Dragonballs. Not only that, but included is cutscenes, taken directly from the Kai series, recoloured and reanimated.

Now, down to the combat. Most fighters have very simplistic fighting scenes, press X to punch, Y to kick and so on. Tenkaichi, while following this recipe, awards creativity with different fighting tactics and styles by using the left analog stick to create these, hold down while pressing x three times will cause a "chain attack", where different punches are thrown in each little scene, each in a classic DBZ camera angles and fights.
Using Ki has changed also: unlike Burstlimit, Ki has to be charged by fighting, and can only use three main attacks in that particular fight.

However, while having such a great gameplay, there are faults that are slightly depressing. While vocals are exactly the same, some of the characters voices are slightly different. For example, Frieza's original voice is used slightly but changes regularly with the Kai version. This can be disorientating and slightly annoying.
Also, many of the original endings were changed; again, at the end of the Frieza battle, Goku declares he is "giving up" on Frieza. In the original, Frieza was beaten to a pulp and Goku, being merciful, gave him energy.
Lastly, boss battles of the large kind (For example, Metal Cooler), while extremely fun are incredibly challenging. No instructions are given in how you are supposed to control your AI (Unless you pause) and langing hits on them are just as challenging.

Dragonball Z Tenkaichi is possibly the best DBZ game in recent history, if not one of the best fighters in recent times. While the gameplay can be disorientating at parts and the voices change from time to time, the game is definitely a worthy play.

Out of 10, I gave DBZ Tenkaichi an 8/10

Good points: Super Saiyan 4? F**K YES
Excellent transition from anime to 3D world
                     Fighting style is utterly fantastic.

Bad points:   Changing voices?
                    Boss battles = frustration level...rising...
Lack of instructions in different areas

Review: Mortal Kombat Arcade

Hey howdy hey folks!

Since us Australians can't get Mortal Kombat 9 until next year, I decided to download the Arcade titles, bringing back not only a wave of nostalgia but also the fun and simplistic stylings that the MK series is known for.

All three classic arcade titles are here in the game, from the very first game to the third, inspiring many young minds, worldwide game developers who were only just beginning as well as two movies. The gameplay is still as easy as ever, that being the classic A, B, Y and joystick movements. All characters make a comeback, as well as the secret characters such as Goro and such.
Nothing has been changed since the arcade titles with the exception being both Achievements and Multiplayer through Xbox Live.

The Multiplayer system runs off simular stylings to Infinity Ward; searching through connectivitiy and availability, starting from closest to farthest. To rid of internet lag, gameplay is halted after you choose a character and then connected directly.
This makes fighting your opponent with ease, so that pulling punches isn't as simple.

Nothing much can be said about the game, other than the fact that game is a classic, the Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 version being more closely to the Nintendo 64 remake of the game. For any veteran gamer or even brand new to the series, there is nothing more satisfying the firing up this game, heading for a match and being prepared for MORTAL KOMBAT!
Out of 10, I gave Mortal Kombat Arcade an 9/10

Good points: A return of a classic, untampered
                    Achievements a nice touch

Bad points:   Controls on the 360 controller a little clunky.
                    I. Hate. Jade. So. Annoying.

Review: Medal of Honor - Airborne

G'day there folks.

While old in the eyes of many gamers, this 2007 release was the beginning of many new First Person Shooters, as well as EA's reputation for realistic gameplay, to come into fruition. MOH Airborne follows one of the many divisions of the 101st and 88th Airborne and their successes and failures during World War 2.

Despite being five years old, the gameplay is still as challenging as ever. With realistic gameplay, a few simple shots will end your life, and with Checkpoints only activating if you have completed a task, you will be sent back to the very start with all previous enemies you have killed alive once more.
Graphics are of decent quality while their age is starting to show, along with the acting quality. Many of the German voice actors weren't completely up to snuff, many even sounding like their American counterparts.
One of the greatest qualities of this game is the musical score; both uplifting in times of triumph and the shame of defeat, the classical score adds much need drama and that little bit of a kick in the pants the player needs to continue onward.

Unfortunately, while the multiplayer was of decent quality a few years ago, it has become unavailable to anyone who doesn't have the original disc (As I downloaded it from Game Marketplace) so I can't give a proper review on that.

While the multiplayer is gone, the campaign is still a great challenge for any person who is looking to having their abilities tested. Both hair pulling and frustrating at times, this classic game that looks back on some of the greatest achievements of the Allied Forces.

Out of 10, I gave MOH Airborne an 7.5/10

Good points: Musical score is brilliant.
                    Gameplay is unique

Bad points:   Difficulty level = frustration
                    Multiplayer issues

Unexpected Leave

Hey guys and girls.

I was going to post three reviews today, but unfortunately that isn't happening.
After receiving some terrible news, I'm going to have to take off for a few days. A very dear friend of mine was killed in a car accident, so it seems I have yet another funeral to go to.
This will be my 4th since September last year.
I'll be writing the reviews on my way up there, and I'll film a few things tomorrow. I'll still post the gaming videos starting Sunday and the end of Choose The Fate (Despite the lack of enthusiasm....)

So, there we go.
I'll be back soon.
Thanks for understanding, game on.

Five Easy Achievements: Dead Space 2

G'day guys!

Probably the best horror game out on the market, the Dead Space series has made a hit with audiences since the very first game. Since then, movies, clips, arcade titles, all of the range of content have been released, both developing and enhancing the experience of the game.
With a hinted (but not yet confirmed) Dead Space 3 in the works, lets take a look back at the title before and snag some easy achievements!

(This FEA will have some achievements only for the DLC Severed. They will be marked with as such: *)

1: Romper Stomper
25 Gamerscore
This achievement is quite easy to get and able to achieve quite early on in the campaign. Simply stomp on 10 containers and there you have it!

2: Think Fast
15 Gamerscore
Once again, this achievement is available quite early on. When you gain control of Kinesis, kill 30 Necromorphs with Kinesis objects. Anything that you can pick up is a Kinesis object, but Necromorph blades or bones are easily the quick killer.

3: Skewered In Space
15 Gamerscore
While slightly tricky, this achievement asks you to impale a Necromorph into a decompression window and cause it to blow out. There are a few of these around the campaign, the closest most likely being Chapter 5. If not, simply look for a window with red markings of warning, take a Necromorph blade and hit anyone of those buggers into the window.

4: Collect Peng
20 Gamerscore
Its right in the name; find and pick up the Peng treasure. It can be found in Chapter 7, while rearranging the pannels to gain access to the Mainframe. In the second room (To the right) there is the four numeral pannels. Simply take one and rearrange that single one until it turns BLUE. Take the rest, place them in order until the rest turn blue and return to the changing pannel. A secret pannel will emerge, simply touch it, crawl through the vent and there's the Peng Treasure. Not only do you get a nice little money boost, but the achievement will pop when you place it into your inventory.

5: Peng Me Again *
20 Gamerscore
In the Dead Space 2 DLC, Severed, the Peng treasure reappears in Chapter Two. You can notice that you come across the Shower room that Issac Clarke goes through early through the main campaign. Head towards the vent shaft that Clarke uses and the Peng Treasure is hiding underneath the mops and buckets.

There are many more simple achievements to be had, such as Remember The Alamo*, Picking Favourites, Fully Outfitted and much more to discover, but for now, just allow yourself to become consumed by the ever growing world of Dead Space and don't forget, there are always things that go bump in the night....

MUAHAHAHAHAHA!
Thanks for reading!

Five Easy Achievements: Mass Effect 2

Hello once again folks!

For the second time, we dive into the space boots of Commander Shepard, saving the world from harm, and as the finale of the series, Mass Effect 3, is barely 2 months away, here's some easy achievements to earn along the way as you save the world from the return of the Reapers!

***WARNING: SPOILERS LAY AHEAD***

1: Against All Odds
15 Gamerscore

This achievement is quite simple, survive the final mission.
While it is quite possible to die during the part of saving your crewmates, its not insanely difficult. Just make sure your armour is up to scrap and your weaponry is of decent quality.

2: Big Game Hunter
10 Gamerscore
During a particular recruiting/loyalty mission, you must test your power against waves of enemies, Horde ME style. The final boss you must face is a Thresher Maw. You have three minutes to kill it or it will run away. Killing it isn't too challenging. Remember to use your allies and your power weaponry to blast it to oblivion.

3: Explorer
10 Gamerscore
Most likely a link to the previous game, this achievement asks you to have 100% completion on exploring a galaxy. This isn't too hard to do; simply head to any old galaxy, travel to each planet in each area and boom. Easy and done.

4: Highly Trained
15 Gamerscore
This achievement is ridiculously easy. Head to a console in the Normandy, watch all three of the training programs in Shepards' files and there you go. You are Highly Trained.

5: Paramour
50 Gamerscore
While this achievement requires a lot of talking, it simply asks you to have a relationship with a crewmember. This can be any male/female (depending on your character) member of a select choosing. Simply talk to them after every mission and develop a relationship with you. Like the previous game, they'll come and see you before your final mission. You make bang boom and done!

There is one achievement more that I'd like to mention. "No One Let Behind". 75 Gamerscore. This asks you to bring back all your crew members alive, as one or many can die during this final mission. Hey, don't complain when some of the weaker ones die!
Here's some quick tips to help you achieve this:
1: Upgrade your ship - I mean it, deck it out to the brim. Heavy armour, more developed weaponry and barrier protection is the way to go. If not, many of the crew can die before you even land!

2: Upgrade your crew - Don't forget that your crew has many worries in their life and could possibly die if they aren't focused. Remember to achieve their loyalty and don't piss any of them off!

3: Send the right person -
Read each person's skills carefully. During the final mission, you'll be prompted to send people to do specific tasks, in which can determine if they, or the people they command, live.
Leader role = Garrus has the best experience and has the most loyalty of the crew.

Shut down pipeline = Tali is experienced with this type of tech and can handle the head well. While Legion seems the best choice, he can't take bullets well due to his trip on the Reaver.

Send one back = Mordin is the best pick. He, being the frailest of the crewmembers, most likely dies during the fighting. Sending him back is the best plan to preserve his life.

Biotic barrier = Samara, having the best experience and strong will is the best pick. While Jack also seems like a good choice, unless shes totally loyal (Where theres a chance earlier to break down), she is the second pick.

The final fight = This all comes down to you. Make a gut call, all depending on your loyalty to them. Lovers tend to fight harder and survive more often, as well as those who have a good health situation or even those who can heal themselves.

Hopefully these achievements and these small tips can be helpful for you. Bring on March 9th!

Five Easy Achievements: Mass Effect

G'day folks!

For the upcoming finale of the series, how's about giving the original games a try?
With Mass Effect 3 right around the corner, its time to take a trip down memory lane, brush off that old copy and save the world once again as Commander Shepard!

1: Long Service Metal
25 Gamerscore
This achievement is easy enough, especially if you ignore all the side missions. Simply play through the campaign, on any difficulty, twice and the achievement is yours.

2: Shotgun Expert
15 Gamerscore
Achieve 150 shotgun kills and this easy achievement is yours. Any of the "Expert" achievements are possible this way, just by killing. But with the original game, it all comes down to the class you begin with.
For example, I was able to have this achievement because my Shepard is a Vanguard, who specialises in Pistols and Shotguns.

3: Lift Mastery
15 Gamerscore
Use the Lift biotic power 75 times and this achievement is yours. Once again, this is the same as the other "Mastery" achievements and all depend on your class.

4: AI Hacking Specialist
15 Gamerscore
75 Hacks to an enemy will score you this achievement. Once more, this achievement like the other "Specialist" achievements requires you to be a specific class, in this case, to have the Tech abilities.

5: Medal of Exploration
50 Gamerscore
This one is actually quite simple. Land on an uncharted world!
The achievement can be done quite early on during the game. Once you start your search for Liara T'soni, you can have the option to land on two worlds. One is the planet Liara is on, the other, an explorational planet. Simply land there and the achievements yours.

Hopefully this can help you out to fill up those gamerscore and remember folks, March 9th!

Review: Metro 2033

G'day guys and gals!

Based on the novel by Dmitry Glukhovsky, Metro 2033 is a first person shooter that takes a twist on both a modernised shooter and a horror game. Working with Mr Glukhovsky, THQ brought out this game in late 2009 to an audience that didn't know what to expect from such an unknown area, it is fair to say the game created a genre on its own.

Playing as a young man, barely 20, named Artyom you are amongst 40'000 survivors as a nuclear winter has destroyed Moscow above, leaving the air unbreathable and forcing all surviving humans underneath into the Metro below, to live amongst the rats. But something else has survived as well, mutants of huge mass attack the small cities on regular basis. But after hearing about a new enemy, only know as "The Dark Ones", Artyom sets out to defend his father and the only home he has.

Gameplay, while simplistic, is quite interesting. With no such HUD and no indicator to tell you where to go, the game has a constant "Sink or Swim" gameplay. storyline is quite well intact with the novel itself, as well as the musical score that Mr Glukhovski helped create himself. Voice acting, while quite well done, is still quite obvious American actors playing with a faulty Russian accent.
What really makes this game float is the new style of gameplay. A first person shooter, while also an adventuring game, also a slight horror and survival game. While killing Soviets and Nazi's hell bent on protecting their homes, as well as the mutants, its also a constant clock watch game, keeping an eye on your watch for your gas mask running out of filters.

While the game is inventive, there are a few faults to mention. Musical score, while very grand and interesting, is very rare and barely plays, during quiet moments or even firefights. Gameplay, while fun and smooth, can be glitchy with enemy AI's. Even on Easy, a mutant can resist four shots from your shotgun, stop the game completely and have you killed. Speaking of killing, health monitors is also patchy. Without a HUD, you are left with just a racing heart beat and blood splatter, and this becomes heard to tell whether close to death or not, as over the large screams of enemies and bullets, its hard to hear the range of your near death experience.

While slightly flawed, Metro 2033 has already made itself a Classic in the eyes of many gamers, with its intriguing storyline and gameplay stylings. With Metro: Last Light set to come out some time this year, many gamers are keeping their eyes out for a sequel to this great game.

Out of 10, I gave Metro 2033 an 7.5/10

Good points: Storyline very believable
                     Game mechanics are quite inventive.
Frustrating at points, but urges you to continue

Bad points:    AI's are as dumb as rocks and strong as such
Most weaponry has little to no effect on enemies
No HUD, no indicator = often death

Review: The Elder Scrolls - Skyrim

Howdy folks!

Most definitely one of the most celebrated games in recent history, Skyrim has quickly taken popularity with his querky stylings and fantastic gameplay. The Elder Scrolls has simply become a brand atop the game that is now on everyone's lips.

From battling fierce dragons to memes that had gone from love to hatred, this knee-attacking game has made quite the impression on the youth of gamers who can barely remember the beginnings of The Elder Scroll games.
One of the instant things to notice is the lush storyline; right from the get-go, a story is told both shrouded in mystery as well as a grand theme to go along with it.
Customisation is greatly done, giving not only a differ of races, but abilities as well. But it doesn't stop there, oh no.
Another great mention is the graphics, an utterly stunning visual of both a wide landscape, snowy mountain tops and even right down to the little blue wings of a butterfly. And while the sabre cat and odd dragon are fierce and terrifying (Especially on low health and no armour) their facial expressions add great effect to the scenario of the battle.

Talking about scenario, I was facinated with the stylised musical score. A brilliant transition of both classical and drum line, along with vocals brought both a quiet moment in Riverwood to a battle to the death between you and an Assassin. (No AC pun intended)
But all of these pale in comparence with what truly sets this game apart: the gameplay and storyline. Gameplay is smooth and quite well done, willing to compensate for both preferences of First Person and Third Person players. Storyline, while quite possibly the longest I've every experienced, the amount of side missions is utterly insane. Even talking to a child and playing a game of tag can lead to an entirely new quest! If you are afraid of being unable to complete the main storyline without leveling up some, it doesn't truly matter if you play as much of the side missions or not. As long as you have decent armour and weaponry, you should be fine. Back on track, its obvious that the people at Bethesda has put a large amount of care and time into every little detail.

While the game is fantastic, there are only a few minour faults I was able to pick up on. While travelling in Skyrim is all jim dandy, some of the missionry requires you to travel large distances to brand new areas. Some may offer a horse, but these things cost money, and that requires a side mission or finding honest work. Even when riding said horse, one simple arrow to the....head of the horse will send him/her crashing to the ground and that will be an end of your lovely ride.
Not only is this an inconvinience, the "fast travel" option is only available to areas you have been to and coaches only travel to major cities. So, in warning, only walk if you have the time to be distracted!

These little tidbits can be oblivious to any fan of the series, or even a newcomer of the series. Skyrim offers so much more than any other title of 2011, in both depth, music, gameplay or plot.
The game is completely worthy of the Game Of The Year title and not only that, it shall be held in high regard for the coming years, so be ready for the jokes pending.

Out of 10, I gave Skyrim an 9.5/10

Good points: Iron Maiden was MADE for this
Killing dragons has never been awesome-er
Storyline, gameplay, musical score = perfection

Bad points:   Travelling is a hassel
                    Birth of the-most-annoying-comment-ever
