Review: The Elder Scrolls - Skyrim

Howdy folks!

Most definitely one of the most celebrated games in recent history, Skyrim has quickly taken popularity with his querky stylings and fantastic gameplay. The Elder Scrolls has simply become a brand atop the game that is now on everyone's lips.

From battling fierce dragons to memes that had gone from love to hatred, this knee-attacking game has made quite the impression on the youth of gamers who can barely remember the beginnings of The Elder Scroll games.
One of the instant things to notice is the lush storyline; right from the get-go, a story is told both shrouded in mystery as well as a grand theme to go along with it.
Customisation is greatly done, giving not only a differ of races, but abilities as well. But it doesn't stop there, oh no.
Another great mention is the graphics, an utterly stunning visual of both a wide landscape, snowy mountain tops and even right down to the little blue wings of a butterfly. And while the sabre cat and odd dragon are fierce and terrifying (Especially on low health and no armour) their facial expressions add great effect to the scenario of the battle.

Talking about scenario, I was facinated with the stylised musical score. A brilliant transition of both classical and drum line, along with vocals brought both a quiet moment in Riverwood to a battle to the death between you and an Assassin. (No AC pun intended)
But all of these pale in comparence with what truly sets this game apart: the gameplay and storyline. Gameplay is smooth and quite well done, willing to compensate for both preferences of First Person and Third Person players. Storyline, while quite possibly the longest I've every experienced, the amount of side missions is utterly insane. Even talking to a child and playing a game of tag can lead to an entirely new quest! If you are afraid of being unable to complete the main storyline without leveling up some, it doesn't truly matter if you play as much of the side missions or not. As long as you have decent armour and weaponry, you should be fine. Back on track, its obvious that the people at Bethesda has put a large amount of care and time into every little detail.

While the game is fantastic, there are only a few minour faults I was able to pick up on. While travelling in Skyrim is all jim dandy, some of the missionry requires you to travel large distances to brand new areas. Some may offer a horse, but these things cost money, and that requires a side mission or finding honest work. Even when riding said horse, one simple arrow to the....head of the horse will send him/her crashing to the ground and that will be an end of your lovely ride.
Not only is this an inconvinience, the "fast travel" option is only available to areas you have been to and coaches only travel to major cities. So, in warning, only walk if you have the time to be distracted!

These little tidbits can be oblivious to any fan of the series, or even a newcomer of the series. Skyrim offers so much more than any other title of 2011, in both depth, music, gameplay or plot.
The game is completely worthy of the Game Of The Year title and not only that, it shall be held in high regard for the coming years, so be ready for the jokes pending.

Out of 10, I gave Skyrim an 9.5/10

Good points: Iron Maiden was MADE for this
Killing dragons has never been awesome-er
Storyline, gameplay, musical score = perfection

Bad points:   Travelling is a hassel
                    Birth of the-most-annoying-comment-ever
