Review: Rainbow Six Vegas 2

G'day once again folks!

With the realistic gunfire gameplay in shooters becoming more and more popular, a return for the Rainbow Six series was definitely on the cards. With the return of Rainbox Six Vegas 2, it was time for a return to the TC gameplay many fans have come to love or hate.

While still a relitively new game, Vegas 2 doesn't hold any stand out graphics, most being quite blockish and blurred. Sound for both the musical score and voice acting is of decent quality; the strings of a 30 piece orchastra is quite a lovely sound, bringing back many of the original games' pieces, remade and with extra tidbits. The voice acting was a classic TC styling, while straight to the point, lacking emotion and vocal pitch.
What really holds this game together is the gameplay; while very simular to the Ghost Recon style of gameplay, Vegas 2 holds its story not only in Sin City. Things such as gadgets and even a very decent level of customisation is quite appealing to the audience. To even create your own character for both Campaign and Multiplayer is quite an interesting feat, especially unseen in a shooter.

Sadly, this brings me to the negative side.
While many gamers are loving the realistic side of gameplay in shooters, Vegas 2 has the slightly annoying advantage. The golden rule in many shooters is "Take Cover", while in this particular case its "Watch every corner." Enemies will be hiding behind overturned tables and drink machines, waiting to shoot or bash you to death. This becomes extremely annoying, especially when you are unable to detect them in open hallways and rooms.
Multiplayer, while fun, has a few issues that need addressing. AI's can tend to lag out local matches, especially when players drop out of the match. This is a simple fix, but since TC games do not allow gamers to drop in open matches, an onslaught from the AI's is sure to happen.

Vegas had its charms and its fun gameplay and stylings, and while a second in the series is sure to be decent, it is known from movies, books to games, the second of anything is sure to be unsatisfactory.

Out of 10, I gave Rainbow Six Vegas 2 an 5.5/10

Good points: Continued storyline
                    Customization is excellent!

Bad points:   Multiplayer needs Mortein....(Kill the bugs?)
                    Frustration at ridiculous shootouts.
AI's tend to be overpowered early on.
                    AI allies offer little/no help
